Kilduff, Senanayake Appointed to Interim Positions

Peter Kilduff was named the interim associate dean for the Huntley College of Agriculture, while Muditha Senanayake was named interim chair of the Department of Apparel Merchandising & Management.

Kilduff takes over the associate dean's duties from Lisa Kessler, who is serving as the college’s interim dean. He has served as professor and chair of the Department of Apparel Merchandising & Management at Cal Poly Pomona since 2006.

He began his career in the textile industry in the United Kingdom and later worked in a London-based management consultancy firm. Before coming to Cal Poly Pomona, he was a faculty member at the University of Leeds, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

Kilduff obtained both his bachelor’s degree and doctorate from the University of Leeds in textile management. His research specialization is the competitive and structural dynamics of the textile and apparel industries and their markets. He has a particular interest in the impact of new technologies. 

In his research, Kilduff has worked extensively with fiber, textile and apparel manufacturers, and industry and government agencies in Europe, Asia and North America, investigating competitive dynamics and market trends across a spectrum of industry and market sectors. 

At Cal Poly Pomona, he served as a College of Agriculture senator from 2010 to 2015, and is serving as chair of the Senate Academic Affairs Committee, vice chair of the Senate Executive Committee, and co-chair of the Academic Affairs Planning & Evaluation Committee. He has been a member of the editorial board at the Journal of the Textile Institute for 20 years and is a guest professor at the Glorious Sun School of Business at Donghua University in Shanghai, China.

Senanayake will serve as the interim chair for AMM while Kilduff handles the associate dean’s duties. Senanayake earned his doctorate in textile technology management at North Carolina State. His areas of teaching include product development, production, supply chain management, operations management, enterprise resource planning, quality management and research methods. He holds professional qualifications as a chartered textile technologist.
