Get the Hottest Pepper Plants on Earth

A sign for Carolina Reaper Hot Pepper Plants

Get the hottest pepper plants in the world – if you dare.

The Cal Poly Pomona Farm Store nursery is holding its “Ultimate Pepper Plant Event” from June 22 to 24.

It will feature more than 80 varieties of pepper plants on sale, including such hot peppers as the Carolina Reaper, which currently holds the Guinness world record as the hottest pepper on earth; and the Chocolate Champion, which may become the new record holder.

“If you like spicy food and have a green thumb, we have just what you’re looking for,” Nursery Manager Monica Salembier said.

If the Carolina Reaper and the Chocolate Champion are too hot for your taste, the nursery has over 80 other pepper varieties on sale. These include the heatless Habanada and Trinidad Perfume; the sweet Maganji, Tequila Sunrise and Shishito; the unusual Black Cobra, Peter and Sugar Rush Peach; the outrageously named Apocalypse, Red Devil’s Tongue and Rusalka’s Revenge; along with the Seven Pot, Trinidad Scorpion and Ghost-type series. In addition to the peppers, the greenhouse will have herbs, dragonfruit, cherimoya, and atemoya plants available.

The Ultimate Pepper Plant Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the greenhouse next to the Cal Poly Pomona Farm Store, 4102 S. University Drive, off Temple Avenue in Pomona.
