Alumni Named to the Green Industry Hall of Fame

Four College of Agriculture alumni were named to the Green Industry Hall of Fame.

The inductees are:

Don Brinkerhoff (’52, BS-ornamental horticulture) is the founder and chairman/CEO of Lifescapes International Inc. He has extensive experience in the design of casinos, world-renowned hotels and master-planned communities. Brinkerhoff is a fellow with the American Society of Landscape Architects and a longtime supporter of the College of Environmental Design at Cal Poly Pomona.

David Lannom (’69, BS-ornamental horticulture; ’89, MS-agriculture) is a horticulture professor and former chair of the agriculture science department at Mt. San Antonio College.

Mark Pedicone (’79, BS-ornamental horticulture) is a regional sales manager for ETwater Sales Inc. who has worked in the landscape irrigation industry in Southern California for 35 years.

Susan Sims (’02, BS-agricultural biology) runs Sims Trees Health Specialist, who also has built a gardening tool manufacturing business. She has created a center to educate others about trees and preservation efforts. Sims also has started a program to education green industry professionals about law and regulations protecting wildlife that reside in California’s trees.

The four will be inducted during a May 2 ceremony at Crestmore Manor in Jurupa Valley.

Based in Ontario, the Green Hall of Fame was created to honor and preserve the contributions of those who worked in the Green Industry. Inductees must have worked at least 20 years in the industry, invented new technology, provided education or changed the industry. The Hall of Fame inducted its first member in 2005.
