Farm Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Coming to Cal Poly Pomona Community

A Poly Pack of fruits and vegetables

There’s nothing like freshly picked fruits and vegetables, and the campus community can get them straight from Cal Poly Pomona’s own farm.

The College of Agriculture is launching a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program, Poly Pack. Under the program, consumers can sign up to receive a pack of Cal Poly Pomona produce every two weeks.

The 12 to 13-pound packs will contain fruits and vegetables. They will be available for pick up bi-weekly.

“We want to showcase what our students are doing and growing here on our farm,” says Mary Holz-Clause, dean of Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Agriculture. “We grow a wide variety of produce here.”

Depending on the season and supply, produce that will be available through Poly Pack are avocados, peppers, oranges, grapefruits, butter lettuce, corn, watermelon, squash, tomatoes, flowers, and herbs.

The packs are $20 each. Shoppers can order a Poly Pack online and pay when they pick up the pack.

The first pick up date is Thursday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the University Quad. Shoppers can pay with cash, check, or credit card.

A 10 percent discount is available for buyers who order three months of Poly Pack.
