'Political Campaign Management' course offers students the chance to interact with alumni who have been elected to office

Dr. Charles Gossett, a visiting professor and Interim Director of the MPA program, has successfully brought back one of our most popular courses, Political Science 322: Political Campaign Management.

Political Campaign Management explores the practice of what it is to run your own political campaign, from nomination through eleclection and in the post-campaign period. This course focuses on teaching students about campaign strategies and techniques that they would undertake as part of a political campaign.

As part of Cal Poly Pomona's 'Learn by Doing' philosophy, many of our undergraduates already volunteer and intern at the offices of local elected officials. This class requires students to volunteer their time with an elected official in order to have a chance to implement the strategies they discuss in this upper-division course.

Throughout the quarter, students have the benefit of hearing from the experience of guest speakers. Guest speakers are former alumni of the department who have been elected to office or have worked in prominent positions for political campaigns.
