Paula Sandoval Memorial Scholarship
Dear Campus Community:
The Graduate Studies Office is pleased to announce the Paula Sandoval Memorial Graduate Scholarship. This will give students an opportunity to learn about Paula's contributions and dedication to this University, the students, and the community throughout her 25 years of service. Paula Sandoval was a 17-year cancer survivor and passed away on September 11, 2001.
Two $700.00 scholarships are available for currently enrolled CPP graduates or CPP senior students admitted to a Master's program or Credential program at Cal Poly Pomona. A senior student must have earned a 3.0 or greater CPP and overall GPA and must be admitted unconditionally to one of our Master's or credential programs for Summer 2016 or Fall 2016.
Applicants who are enrolled in a Master’s or credential program must have completed at least one quarter in a graduate program and earned a 3.0 or greater CPP and overall GPA and will be in residence at Cal Poly Pomona for at least two quarters following receipt of award. An applicant will also include a letter of recommendation from someone, such as teacher, clergy, physician, advisor, who can substantiate the obstacle(s) the student has overcome.
Our purpose is to encourage and recognize graduate students who have overcome serious obstacles or struggles in their lives to get to and/or through college, such as:
- The individual has a physical and/or learning disability.
- Financial hardship
- Re-entry student who has completed raising a family or is in the process of raising a family and is coming back to school after an extended absence and has primary responsibility for minor children
- A continuation student who has primary responsibility for minor children.
Applications must be received by March 25, 2016. Late applications will not be accepted. Awards will be announced in Spring Quarter. A scholarship luncheon will be held on May 31st, from 11:30-1:00 pm, to recognize our recipients.
