Administrative Affairs is happy to welcome University Police as a new member to our team, and looks forward to future collaborations.

Saying farewell to our Land Use Planning and Development Manager, DeWayne Hurst


On March 25, 2016, DeWayne Hurst will be saying good-bye to Cal Poly Pomona, and hello to the Pacific Northwest! DeWayne has decided to move up north in order to be closer to his daughter and family.

DeWayne started his career at Cal Poly in April 2015, but was no stanger to the CSU system. He served as Director of Facilities Operations at Cal State Bakersfield, and as Director of Facilities at Claremont Graduate University. DeWayne received his MBA from Claremont Graduate University, and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science from the University of La Verne.

DeWayne had been instrumental in maintaining the Lanterman Development Center property, and overseeing its future development. Since his departure, Dr. Walter M. Marquez, Associate Vice President of Facilitites Planning and Management has taken on duties of overseeing the property.

While he may be missed, DeWayne's spirit and laughter will forever echo through the offices of Administrative Affairs.

Finance and Administrative Services Staff Receive Excellence Award

FAS Staff

For the 16th consecutive year, the Department of Finance & Administrative Services has received the State Controller's Certificate for Achieving Excellence in Financial Reporting. The award recognizes the preparation of accurate and timely submission of year-end financial reports for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012.

The certificate commends the staff for achieving the highest quality in California government accounting and financial reporting. The certificate was issued by California State Controller John Chiang.

Procurement Team Again Nationally Recognized

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award has again been earned by Cal Poly Pomona's Department of Procurement & Support Services. The award is given by the National Purchasing Institute and recognizes the innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership components of procurement. 

This is the seventh year that the university has received the award. 

Being nationally recognized for excellence in procurement is an enormously rewarding experience and receiving the award motivates our team and keeps us focused on the need to be outstanding in our field, says Kathleen Prunty, the department's director. 

Cal Poly Pomona is one of only approximately 20 higher education agencies in the United States to receive the award.

Lori Bunner Awarded 2013 Outstanding Staff by Staff Council

Lori Bunner, Administrative Coordinator and Team Lead for Human Resource Services, was one of four employees recognized by then President Ortiz and Staff Council with the 2013 Outstanding Staff Awards. This award is presented by Cal Poly Pomona's Staff Council to staff employees who have exhibited expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm in their jobs at Cal Poly Pomona.
