Donna Dannan Class of 1991
The Collins College of Hospitality Management
Donna Dannan may have graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in the 1990s, but her connection to the university began decades earlier. Her mother worked on campus for 14 years and Dannan eventually followed in her footsteps as a university employee, beginning in 1970.
Dannan held several positions before going to back to school and – after 8½ years of part-time classes – earning her degree in 1991. She subsequently landed a job in corporate/contract food service with Marriott International, staying on for nine years. She left that position to return to The Collins College, first in its Professional Development Institute and finally as the student services coordinator.
In 2010, Dannan retired from The Collins College but her presence will be felt for years to come. Last year, she generously donated $25,000 to the Collins Hospitality Society’s scholarship endowment.
Dannan and her husband, Michael, have two daughters, Kristin Giannetti (husband Adrian) and Tracy Zerkel (husband Mike), and four grandchildren, Alyssa and Erik Giannetti and Nicole and Jack Zerkel. Dannan and Kristin graduated together in 1991 from Cal Poly Pomona.
