Cal Poly Pomona

To study the rainforest, one must go to the rainforest, and Cal Poly Pomona students and faculty have visited Venezuela, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Galápagos Islands, and other tropical locales over the years for education and research. But even a greenhouse can be valuable, to study plants and animals in controlled conditions.

The plants of BioTrek provide class research projects for students in Plant Anatomy, who study their internal structure. A planned addition to the greenhouse is a contained colony of leafcutter ants, which will allow studies of food preference in these interesting insects.
