Course Fees & Payment Options
The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.
Fees are determined by the number and type of units in which you are enrolled. Students taking classes through Open University must either pay the full amount they owe online through BroncoDirect or enroll into a payment plan in order to be enrolled into their classes.
Undergraduate Courses (<500 level courses)

- All zero unit courses are considered 4 units for fee purposes with the exception of graduate courses which are considered 1 unit.
- Maximum Transferable Units for Undergraduates: 36
- Maximum Transferrable Units for Graduates: 11-13
Graduate Courses (>499 level courses)

Payment for Open University may be made by credit card or e-Check and paid online through BroncoDirect. Credit cards accepted include: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
PLEASE NOTE: a 2.75% convenience charge will be assessed for each payment processed via credit card. There is no additional fee for paying by e-Check.
If you are unable to pay for all of your tuition at once, you may sign up for an installment plan, which allows you to pay for your tuition in 3 monthly payments. NOTE: The first payment is due at the time you submit your petition.
There is a non-refundable administrative fee of $25 to use this plan, which is divided between each payment. You can sign up for this plan at the CEU Registration office when you submit your petition. This will require you to sign a petition agreement acknowledging your understanding of the College of the Extended University’s payment, refund, hold, and withdrawal policies.
Financial aid cannot be used to pay for courses taken through Open University, nor does the College of the Extended University offer loans to cover those expenses.
A 10% tuition discount is available to current faculty/staff members and to current members of the alumni association. Proper ID must be shown for each and only one discount may be used at a time. Discounts cannot be combined. NOTE: a discount is not available on miscellaneous course fees.
