Small Systems UAV Operators

Unmanned Aerial Systems is a fast growing field with countless application possibilities. The industry is expected to create 100,000 new jobs over the next ten years. There are many industries exploring the use of UAVs including security and law enforcement, search and rescue, agriculture, geographic surveying, and aerial photography.

The Small Systems UAV Operator Certificate will train you to operate small system UAVs weighing less than 55 lbs. Courses are based on current technology and regulations, the certificate will be updated as necessary to comply with any changes in FAA policy.

Students receive a small drone to practice basic flight skills and the course culminates with a hands on flight day using DJI and Yuneec equipment.

The single-course certificate program is offered in a six-week standard session or a one-week intensive session. Topics Covered include:

  • Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Systems Flight Operations
  • Regulations, Operations Risk Management and Flight Simulation
  • Autonomous Flight and Data Collection
  • Navigation and Mission Planning
  • Ground Flight Operations
  • Flight Day - Using DJI and Yuneec systems

Who Should Enroll?

There are no pre-requisites. Anyone interested in becoming trained to operate UAVs can apply.

Brock P. Christoval, CEO & Founder

Brock P. Christoval is an entrepreneur and innovator. Brock earned a B.S. degree inAerospace Science Engineering fromthe prestigious Tuskegee University. As an engineer he has worked on rockets, airplanes, cars, and now drones. His particular expertise with drones comes from being the chief data scientist on a special DoD counter-drone demonstration. During that time, he lead his team to develop new approaches to conduct drone analytics. Prior to that, he founded his first company, Infinite Technology Design, centered on his patented multi-functional cargo bed cover for trucks. In 2009 he successfully raised capital for his second company, Earthaby Inc, centered on an all-natural toy disinfectant he and his wife invented. Brock feeds his curiosity for technology and business by reading, learning, tinkering with his sons, and staying engaged in the startup community.
