Fashion Tech Summer Courses

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to Cal Poly Pomona’s shortened summer schedule in preparation for the semester conversion in fall 2018, our general public Bronco Academy STEAM Camps, the Fashion Tech Summer Camp and our Custom Youth Programs will not be offered in summer 2018.

Please check our website often for announcements about youth programs to be held in summer 2019.  We look forward to seeing you then! 


Explore the exciting world of fashion and gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art Apparel Production Lab, Textile and Garment Testing Lab and Body Scanning Lab. Students may choose from our Non-Residential Day Camps or our Weeklong Residential Camps.

Students may enroll in one or both sessions depending upon their interest areas. Both sessions utilize the latest in technology and require that students have basic computer skills.

Fashion Tech 1: Product Line Development

Students enrolled in this course will gain knowledge and experience in:

  • Market trend research and product line decision-making
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) for product line creation and presentation
  • Textiles for fashion: fibers, yarns and fabrics
  • The aesthetics, science and technology of COLOR
  • 3D body scanning and avatar creation
  • Virtual reality garment fitting and display
  • Producing a virtual fashion show

Fashion Tech 2: Apparel Design & Construction

Students enrolled in this course will gain knowledge and experience in:

  • Garment design parameters
  • Fashion sketching
  • Construction techniques
  • Manual patternmaking
  • Computer Aided Design Patternmaking – using 2D and 3D CAD
  • Garment technical design
  • Garment assembly and finishing

Who Should Enroll?

Teens, ages 13-18, who are interested in fashion design, technology and the exciting career field of apparel production, fashion retailing and related sectors.
