Industry Studies Option

The music industry studies (MIS) option at Cal Poly Pomona currently comprises the majority of the music department’s undergraduate majors. The program’s wide-ranging and comprehensive curriculum provides students with a solid foundation in music theory, history, ensemble performance, production, recording technology, and business—as well as a well-rounded university education.

  • Seminar for Music Industry Studies
  • Tracking and Mixing

In preparation for careers in music, all MIS students complete internships throughout the music industry at organizations such as ASCAP, Interscope Records, Sony Music Publishing, Warner Bros Records, Capitol Recording Studios, Universal Mastering, The Roxy, Nightbird Studios, Universal Music Distribution, and many others.
