Dr. David Speak elected chair of Cal Poly Pomona Academic Senate

Dr. David Speak has been elected the chair of the Cal Poly Pomona Academic Senate for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year. The Academic Senate is the official voice of the faculty and the primary consultative body. Thirty-five faculty members serve as senators from across the university. The chair presides at all meetings of the Senate and general meetings of faculty that may be called for. The Academic Senate is a fundamental part of shared governance here at the university. Congratulations to Dr. Speak! 

Dr. David M. Speak is the author of Living Law: The Transformation of American Jurisprudence in the Early Twentieth Century, and co-author (with Lewis Lipsitz) of two editions of a widely-adopted Intro American Government text,American Democracy. He was an early recipient of the George Hart Award for Faculty Leadership and has served as Chair of the Academic Senate.
