Dr. Jill Hargis is elected as CLASS senator to the Academic Senate

Jill HargisDr. Jill Hargis has been elected as a senator to the Cal Poly Pomona Academic Senate. The Academic Senate is the official voice of the faculty and the primary consultative body. Thirty-five faculty members serve as senators from across the university. Dr. Hargis was selected to represent the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. Senators are responsible for debating policy and procedures that the Senate may recommend to the general university The Academic Senate is a fundamental part of shared governance here at the university. Congratulations to Dr. Hargis!

Dr. Jill E. Hargis has studied the concept of the masses in relationship to democratic theory and practice in 20th century continental political thought, particularly in the work of Martin Heidegger, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Michel Foucault. More recently she is focusing her work on American political thought, including Thomas Jefferson, as well as contemporary environmental political theory.
