Joshua Aldama '10
Collins Hospitality Society Vice PresidentEvent Manager, MGM Resorts Event Productions
Josh Aldama is an Event Manager for MGM Resorts Event Productions where he helps corporate and in-house clients with event planning and meeting needs at all corporate owned properties in town such as Mandalay Bay, Aria, Bellagio, MGM Grand, and The Mirage to name a few. In Special Events less than five years, Josh started at the bottom and worked his way to the top learning everything you need to know in this sector of the hospitality industry. With the corporation since 2011, Josh took a chance on leaving his hometown and packed his bags for a new journey to pursue an entry-level position and learn the ins and outs of event planning with an award-winning company. A year later, Josh was promoted from an Event Supervisor to an Event Manager and has continued to grow and learn within this ever-changing industry.
Josh was always intrigued with event planning and his spark was ignited during his studies at CCHM when he joined the, still freshly assembled, Association of Student Event Planners were he eventually served as President as well as Vice President of the Hospitality Management Council.
Prior to working at MGM Resorts Event Productions, Josh’s work experience was solely in Food & Beverage. During high school he worked at Knott’s Berry Farm and not long after graduating he was promoted to Area Manager of the Catering Department. From there he moved into full and quick service restaurant management, multi-unit management within the LAX Airport, and part of the opening management team with Sodexo operating the Cast Commissaries at Disneyland Resort.
Josh continues to be active in the industry by being involved with the International Special Event Society. Currently he serves as President-Elect moving into Presidency in the upcoming season. He was also voted by his peers as the 2014 Rising Star in Special Events at Event Solutions’ Spotlight Awards.
In his spare time, Josh enjoys traveling back to California to visit family and friends, exploring new corners of Las Vegas, networking and making new friends at conventions and CCHM Alumni events, experiencing unique outings with friends with silent auction winnings, and relaxing at home with a bottle of wine.
