Dr. Michelle Yoo is an Associate Professor at The Collins College of Hospitality Management in California State Polytechnic University Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona). She joined the faculty of the Collins College of Hospitality Management in Fall, 2015. Her area of specialty is hospitality marketing and teaches Hospitality Marketing Management.

Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Yoo taught at the Florida International University (FIU) as an assistant professor. She has taught core requirement classes such as Hospitality Marketing, Lodging Operations, Service Operations Management, Research Methods and Statistical Analysis, and elective courses such as Casino Marketing, Casino Operations Management, Destination marketing and Electronic Marketing to undergraduate and graduate level students both online and in classrooms. She has also developed online classes for the executive management Master’s program.

Dr. Yoo has specifically worked in various hospitality marketing positions including strategic marketing, database marketing, loyalty marketing and casino marketing departments at companies such as the Ritz Carlton and the Venetian in both the Asian and U.S. markets. Due to her professional background, she is specifically interested in conducting applied research by incorporating different theories with a mixture of data mining techniques. Dr. Yoo’s research interest areas include strategic marketing, customer relationship marketing, database marketing in the hospitality industry. Specifically, her main research interests include a variety of topics related to customer loyalty and consumer behavior. She is the first or coauthor for a multiple number of articles in hospitality peer-reviewed journals. She has been constantly serving as an ad hoc reviewer on peer-reviewed hospitality journals and conference committees since 2009. Additionally, she has presented or proceeded in multiple renowned refereed hospitality conferences both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Yoo holds a B.S. in Hotel Administration from Kyunghee University, Seoul Korea; her M.S in Hotel Administration from University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV); and her Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration from University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) as well.
