Revamped Robotics Camp

New RobotC programming

The Cal Poly Pomona Robotics camp has been updated to use the more challenging software, RobotC. While still using the popular Lego EV3 MINDSTORMS robots to teach campers how to program using logic, campers will use object-oriented programming to control robot behavior. RobotC is a C Programming Language for Robotics that pushes campers to learn programming using an easy to use interface. RobotC requires a stronger understanding of math and logic than the traditional Lego education software used in the past. With RobotC, students will learn to command robot behavior, advanced programming and subroutine capabilities.

Robotics Camp

Campers will program robots to perform specific actions, use color & ultrasonic sensors, utilize the robot Gyro, use the touch sensor, follow paths, and navigate complex obstacle courses. On Fridays, campers will program their robots to be battlebots, and use the many commands they've learned to strategize and outbattle their fellow campers. The campers compete in Robot March Madness to determine a tournament winner. The Robotics Camp uses an exciting environment and fun tools to motivate campers to learn logic models, use a scientific inquiry process, and integrate math to control distance, rotation, and time.

Counselors are not available for Extended Care before 7:30am. If a camper has not been picked-up by 5:30pm, the Discovery Camp staff charges $1/minute for extended care in order to cover facility and salary costs.
