College of Engineering Valedictorian Zachary Jarecki

Overall College of Engineering: Zachary Jarecki
Zachary Jarecki earned a 3.99 GPA in Civil Engineering and is the Valedictorian for the College.

He is part of the Kellogg Honors College, and he served as President of the geotechnical engineering club. He was also an important member of Cal Poly Pomona’s GeoWall team, which placed 1st in the nation, two years in a row.

Last summer, Zachary performed undergraduate research at Texas A&M under a grant from the National Science Foundation.

He plans to become a licensed Civil Engineer and currently works for Kleinfelder, an international geotechnical and environmental consulting firm.

Aerospace Engineering: William K. McElhaney (Summa Cum Laude)
William is a licensed pilot and has worked with the development of Unmanned Aircraft for Aerial Firefighting. After graduation, William will be working for Northrop Grumman.

Chemical Engineering: Hoa Cam Lieu (Magna Cum Laude)
Hoa has served as the President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and has been involved with Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. She presented her senior project on solar panels at the Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research. After graduation, Hoa plans to pursue a Master’s degree at UC Irvine.

Civil Engineering: Ahmad Ibrahim Nabulsi (Summa Cum Laude)
Ahmad is a geotechnical engineer at Langan Engineering. He has worked on geotechnical investigations for Farmers Field, the LA Convention Center, and the LA Live Event Center.

Computer Engineering: William Charles Prieto Jr. (Summa Cum Laude)

Construction Engineering Technology: Cheuk-Laam “Jeffrey” Ng (Magna Cum Laude)
After graduation, Jeffrey plans to spend a year leading a youth group as a volunteer. He also plans to pursue a career in city management and planning.

Electrical Engineering, Katherine J. Slevkov (Summa Cum Laude)
Katie is considering education and employment opportunities in Australia. Congratulations Katie.

Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology: Anthony Tran (Summa Cum Laude)
Anthony has been involved in eye-hand coordination projects using haptic technology, and he presented his work at the Southern California Undergraduate Research Conference. Anthony is working at Western Digital in firmware test and development and will be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Industrial Engineering: Amanda Katherine Smith (Summa Cum Laude)
Mandee has held leadership positions in the Institute of Industrial Engineers and Alpha Pi Mu and is a manufacturing engineer with Northrop Grumman. In 2011 she won first place in an international simulations competition in Florida. This Fall, Mandee will enter a Master's degree program at USC. Congratulations Mandee.

Manufacturing Engineering: Dika Handayani (Summa Cum Laude)
Dika has been involved in Associated Manufacturing Society and Society of Manufacturing Engineers. She presented a paper about her Spokane Industries research internship at the Steel Founder's Society of America National Conference in Chicago. Dika will be attending Penn State University this fall to pursue a Doctoral Degree.

Mechanical Engineering: Jonathan Caleb Godwin (Summa Cum Laude) 
Caleb has been working in the medical device industry the last four years and has recently received a promotion within Baxter to oversee supplier mold, material, and process change projects.  Caleb plans to obtain his graduate degree from UC Irvine.
