April 22, 2010

  • Build day this Friday, April 23 at 10 AM. Things to do:
    • Alignment
    • Re-do the under tray
    • Remake a suspension bracket
    • Cut cones
    • Cut side panels
  • We will also be testing the car this Sunday, April 25. The time we will meet will be emailed out to everybody sometime this weekend
  • Design of the next car will begin in 2 weeks
    • Prior to this, all team members should familiarize themselves with the rule book
    • Also, anyone interested in a particular subsystem should read up on any and all aspects of that subsystem
    • Craig and Sean will be creating a Gantt chart for our design and build up to the day of the 2011 competitio
  • Elections for club positions will take place next Thursday, April 29, at our weekly meeting. An email will be sent out with information regarding positions and nominations
  • Campus elections will take place May 11-13. There is a Green Initiative Fund that will donate money to clubs and organizations on campus that are environmentally oriented (ie. our club!). So please take the time to vote yes for this proposition

  • Build day on Friday, April 9. There is a lot of work that needs to get done on the car before we can take it to the Long Beach Grand Prix. Please come out and help!
  • The Long Beach Grand Prix is next weekend from the 16th to the 18th. If you have not yet signed up with us, let Craig know what day(s) you would like to go. We will be organizing a carpool.

  • Friday January 29th, we will be selling bacon wrapped hot dogs at the Bronco Student Center during the Hi-Tech Job Fair from 10 AM to 2 PM. Please come out to support us!
  • We will still be having a build day after the Hi-Tech Job Fair
  • solidWorks World starts this weekend!
    • The event will take place from Sunday January 31st to Wednesday February 3rd
    • Saturday we will head over to the Anaheim Convention Center to set up our booth
    • e have a rough schedule of volunteers to help out at our booth but we still need a few more. We will further discuss driving arrangements at the lab on Friday during the build
  • E-Week is coming up the week of February 15th
    • A dodgeball tournament will be held on February 16th and 18th at U-hour
    • If you would like to participate please let us know so we can organize a team

  • An H-bridge workshop will be held the first Saturday of winter quarter.
    • An H-bridge is an electronic circuit that is commonly used to allow DC motors to run forwards and backwards and attending the workshop could prove to be very beneficial to the team
  • We will not be meeting in the lab this Saturday (December 5) or having a meeting next week Thursday (December 10) due to finals
  • The team forum is up and can be found on the Forums page
  • Our next meeting will be the Monday after finals (December 14). We will meet in the lab room to finish assembling the car and make sure that our SolidWorks model is ready for SolidWorks World 2010. Please come out to help and have fun. We will be sending emails out to everybody regarding the exact details for that weeks build schedule

  • This Saturday (November 21) we will be attending ABF Motorings track day at the Home Depot Center
    • Afterwards we will be meeting in the lab room at around 2 PM to continue working on the SolidWorks model and assembling the suspension components
  • Today (November 19) Ben and Edward will be going over the electrical system on the car in preparation for the controller
  • Quarter-at-a-Glance will be Wednesday January 6th
  • The fundraising team has comprised a list of fundraising ideas that were proposed at todays meeting and they will meet again at noon this Wednesday (November 25) in the library

  • This Saturday (November 14th) we will meet in the AV room to work on our SolidWorks model and get the car ready to be assembled

    • It will be hosted by ABF Motoring and they will provide Mini Coopers for the registered people to drive

  • John Tran has finished the new website
  • This Saturday (11/7) we will be meeting in the AV room at 10:00 AM to sand and paint the frame as well as refine our SolidWorks model for the upcoming SolidWorks convention in January
  • Everybody that has signed up for a subsystem, we encourage you to download the 2010 Formula Hybrid Rules from the competitions website and read up a bit on the subsystem that you are interested in
  • Daniel found information on getting a food handlers license
    • The online class is $75 for a 10 hour class and a 70% is required to pass the test and receive the license
    • The class at Mt. SAC is $150 and they meet every Tuesday and Wednesday
    • Both days are required, as well as 70% on the test to receive the license
  • From E-Council:
    • SDLI is having leadership training on Friday November 13th
    • E-Week is February 15th to 20th
      • All clubs are to come together to host an event
    • Tuesday November 4th there is going to be an open forum at URSA Major at U hour
    • Friday November 20th, Chevron and a documentary film will be shown

    • One team will be disassembling the car so that it can be painted
    • The other team will be working with Sean on cleaning up the SolidWorks model of our car
