Second BA/BS and MA

Second Bachelor’s Degree

Students with a prior Bachelor’s degree are ineligible for grants, however may qualify for the Perkins Loan, Federal Work-Study (FWS), Stafford Loan and, if still dependent, the Parent PLUS Loan at the undergraduate level, even if paying graduate level fees.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • At least halftime status, 6 or more units
  • Has not reached aggregate borrowing limit (lifetime loan limit)
  • Not over unit cap*

*If unit cap is reached, students will be eligible for loans for one additional year at the undergraduate level as long as the aggregate limit has not been reached. The unit requirement to receive a loan will be the same as it is for first-time Bachelor’s undergraduate students.

 

Second Master’s Degree

Students with a prior Master’s degree are ineligible for grants, however may qualify for the Perkins Loan, Federal Work-Study (FWS), Stafford Loan and, the Graduate PLUS Loan at the graduate level.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • At least halftime status, 4 or more units
  • Has not reached aggregate borrowing limit (lifetime loan limit)
  • Not over unit cap*

*If unit cap is reached, students will be eligible for loans for one additional year at the graduate level as long as the aggregate limit has not been reached. The unit requirement to receive a loan will be the same as it is for first-time Master’s graduate students.
