It's Not Too Late to Quit Smoking!
Quitting is hard. Eight out of ten smokers want to quit smoking. Usually, people make a couple of tries or more, before finally being able to quit. Each time you try to quit, you can learn about what helps you and what doesn’t.
Smoking is the single greatest preventable cause of death and illness in the United States. If you smoke, it’s not too late to make a change. To quit, you must break your addiction to nicotine and your habit of smoking. Thus, SHS offers a 4-week smoking cessation program with a health educator to provide support in your efforts to be smoke-free.
- Session 1: You will be introduced to the program, getting to know your smoking patterns, and learning about health effects of smoking.
- Session 2: You will learn about your smoking habit, build social support, and establish a plan of action for quitting.
- Session 3: Quit day. You will continue to monitor smoking cravings. Put your quit plan into action.
- Session 4: You will learn about handling stress, symptoms of recovery, and preventing relapse.
Your health educator will continue to stay in touch with you to find out how you’re doing and offer support when necessary. To make an appointment for smoking cessation, please call the appointment line at 909-869-4000.
