Rosana Sparkling Wine, from Cal Poly Pomona zinfandel grapes
Rossana, a classically styled Brut Rose was named after one of the first Arabian horses W.K. Kellogg brought to the ranch that would eventually become Cal Poly Pomona. This gorgeous mare had a rose grey coat with nearly faultless conformation. Her beauty and excellent temperament made her popular among anyone who visited the ranch, the same way this wine was favored among everyone who drank it.
The Zinfandel used for this wine was lightly pressed to capture a nuance of color, all the while extracting the delicate cherry and strawberry fruit characteristics. This wine’s bright mauve hue was accentuated with tiny bubbles and a crisp finish, while still being balanced with a hint of sweetness
