Summer Work Schedule Information

Summer Work Schedule Information

Cal Poly Pomona transitions from a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (5/40 schedule), to a compressed 4-day summer work schedule of Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (4/10 schedule).  The 4/10 schedule for Summer 2017 will be observed June 12, 2017 through August 25, 2017, except during two work weeks (June 26 – June 30, 2017 and July 31 – August 4, 2017) when we will revert back to a 5 day/8 hour per day schedule for compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requirements.

4/10 Schedule for Summer 2017

In a 4/10 work schedule, the 40 hours will be accomplished by working 10 hours each day, Monday through Thursday.  During the 4/10 Summer Work Schedule it is expected that all campus offices will be open for business with operations Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to serve students and the public. Friday will not be a regular work day for most campus employees. This work schedule will apply to all full-time, part-time, exempt and non-exempt staff of Cal Poly Pomona unless exempted based on operational needs of the university, or due to an approved alternate work schedule or Hardship Request due to family care, health, or other compelling reasons.

This  summer work schedule change is observed in order to reduce energy costs and the university’s carbon footprint.  The  4/10 summer schedule was implemented in 2008.  The goal then and every summer since  implementation, has been to promote energy, utility, and environmental savings  which is consistent with our environmental and renewable energy commitment and  the efficient delivery of summer operations.
