  In the past year, the Cal Poly Pomona foundry program sponsored 12 students to participate in the AFS conference in St. Louis.
1998/1999 AFS President, Mike Connal, and Vice President, Curt de Leon, were awarded the first prize in the 1999 AFS student competition.
In the 1998 winter quarter, Cal Poly Pomona students accepted a challenge from Disneyland to cast a 6 foot diameter wind-making propeller. The project is currently in its final production stages.
