About Foundation for International Education

FIE: Foundation for International Education is a London-based non-profit educational organization established in 1998 to provide customized partnership programs and individual student enrollment programs in London, U.K.  FIE offers a variety of ways to build and deliver academic programs rich in experiential learning.  Their coursework spans a variety of disciplines, and emphasis is placed on academic rigor and the utilization of London as an extension of the classroom.  FIE is a leader in academic internship provision, and over the years, has developed a robust network of partner organizations trained to receive student interns from the United States.

Area(s) of Study

Summary – Phase One: Weeks 1 through 7

  • Phase One with two in-person courses taught by AMM faculty and one in-person taught course, British Life and Business, taught by FIE faculty.
  • During Phase One, students will interview for their internship work placements and sites are confirmed.

In total AMM students receive 15 CPP credits

Housing

Metrogate House serves as FIE largest student residence with laundry facilities, mail pickup for all FIE residences, a 24 hour PC lab, and dedicated Facilities Support Team.  Metrogate House also accommodates two new classrooms and FIE students as well as a new office for Residence Life team, allowing staff to be easily accessible to students.

Scholarship

FIE Scholarships

CPP students are eligible to apply for FIE’s Semester Sharif Rahman Scholarships, valued at $3,000 per award. Students choose a specific “Route,” which coincides with FIE’s values: Diversity and inclusivity, Environmental Responsibility, or Charity and Community.  

Note: Students can apply anytime from now up until September 15, at 3:59 p.m. Pacific time for the spring semester.  There are also other spring scholarships that FIE supports or offers.  Deadlines vary for those scholarships and more information can be found on FIE’s web page.  Students can apply for these scholarships even before they apply for the London program.

  2. One passport photo attached to their application
  3. Independent Return Travel Form
  4. Illegal Drug Use Policy Form
  5. Conduct of Behavior Form
  6. Trip Release Form
  7. Release of Liability Form
  8. Health Status Report Form – (follow instructions)

Students will need to have application signed by academic advisor. Once accepted, study abroad program charges and payment deadlines will be posted on the student's Bronco Direct account. Students pay $500 non-refundable application fee and regular Cal Poly Pomona tuition for the Fall Semester course. The application fee will be deducted from the remaining program cost.

Application Deadline: October 10, 2018

Courses: Students will enroll in a full load of courses from CPP:

  • BUS 4410 (International Internship course) – 3 units
  • BUS4420 (CBA Internship course) – 3 units
  • BUS 4820 (Cross Cultural Comparison) – Counts as C4/D4 in GE 3 units
  • BUS 3120 (Global Business Course) – Counts as CBA Core Course – 3 units
  • BUS3000 (Communication Course) – Counts as CBA Core Course – 3 units

During Phase One, students’ interview for their internship work placements and sites are confirmed.

Week 8: Mid-semester break March 4-8, 2019

Phase Two: Weeks 9 through 15

  • Students take 1 FIE-taught Course
  • International Internship Course or International Service Internship Course seminars begin
  • Classes meet one day per week (Monday).
  • Student Global Leadership Conference – April 5-7, 2019
  • Internships occur four days per week
  • CPP International Internship online course continues. CBA faculty to meet with students 1-2 times total when faculty is in London

In total CBA students receive 15 CPP credits
