Sorry, this course is no longer being offered on-line.
Welcome to BIO 190! This is a “virtual” course, taught entirely on-line with no required classroom time. You will need some specific skills in order to successfully complete it. Specifically, you need to be able to use electronic mail (email), and you need to be able to browse the World Wide Web. You don’t have to be an expert at either of these, but you will need to use each of these skills a lot during the course.
If you need help with these skills, classroom time will be available early in the quarter, and if you plan to attend at least the first class meeting, you can ignore the paragraphs below.
If you don't attend the first class meeting, but want to continue in this class, you’ll need to provide the information below. If you don’t provide it, I will try to do an “administrative drop”, but if that isn’t possible, and you don’t drop, you will receive a “U” grade. If you are unfamiliar with email and the World Wide Web, you really should attend the first class meeting; if you don’t, you must still complete this task before I will accept assignments from you.
Here’s what you need to do:
Send an email message to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. The subject line must be “BIO 190 signup”. It must be sent from the email account where you receive mail (I will use that email address to send you information for the rest of the quarter, unless you tell me a new one). You must answer the following questions, in order, each beginning a new line:
Here is what a sample reply might look like:
Marie Curie 123-45-6789 Radiation Lab Home Pentium III-600 Windows 98
When I get your message, I will reply, and then you may begin the rest of the assignments.
Thanks for your interest in the course!
