Dr. Brown has served as Director of the Lyle Center since 2004. He is also a Professor of Landscape Architecture and former Interim Dean of the College of Environmental Design. He is available by appointment to advise current students, meet with prospective students, and potential program partners. He is currently engaged in the following research initiatives:

  • Climate change action and greenhouse gas reduction strategies
  • Participatory learning and action for ecological sovereignty
  • Ecological modeling for decision-making

Dr. Brown serves as Co-Chair for the President's Climate Commitment Task Force at Cal Poly Pomona, and has worked with colleagues and students on the development of the campus climate action plan. He received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Landscape Architecture and Ph.D. in Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts.
