The Collection contains a substantial amount of video recordings of Hilda Solis. Most of these recordings appear to have been made by Solis staff members to capture her appearances on news programs, televsion interviews, public appearances, and on the floor of the House of Representatives. The selective recordings primarily cover the years 2000–2005, but they are not comprehensive or in strict chronological order. Although originally recorded on VHS tapes, the recordings have been transferred onto DVDs to ensure their long–term preservation and to facilitate viewing.

The recordings allow viewers to see and hear Solis speak on a wide range of topics and in a variety of settings. In her speeches, Solis addresses the major issues facing her constituents and the United States as a whole during those years, including:

  • Social Security
  • Health Care
  • Domestic Violence
  • Women's Rights
  • Immigration
  • Labor
  • Medicare
  • The Environment
  • The Iraq War

For a complete listing of the recordings and their subject matter, please see the Audio-Visual Materials Series Subseries A in the Collection finding aid.
