Accessing employee resources

We are excited that you have decided to join the Cal Poly Pomona community and look forward to seeing you on your first day. 

  • Claim Your Cal Poly Pomona Identity and Email Account

If you haven't completed this step already, please do so as soon as possible. View: Steps for Claiming Your Cal Poly Pomona Identity and Email Account.

  • Read and Complete New Hire Documents

Before your first day we would like you to read and complete your New Hire Enrollment Forms, available at:  http://www.cpp.edu/~new-hire.  Please bring your completed forms with you to your New Hire Orientation/first day of employment.   

  • Also Bring With You:

In addition to your New Hire Employment Forms, you will need to bring the following with you in order to complete your new employee sign up.  

  • Review Your Commute Choices

  • Parking Permit for Your First Day

    • Free parking will be provided for you on your first day of employment.  Please stop by the Parking Booth to pick up your free reserved parking pass.  The Parking Booth is just north of Parking Lot F9 (see Parking Map PDF) and is located on Oak Lane, near Cypress Lane and the police station. 
  • Purchasing a Faculty/Staff Parking Permit

    • You will be provided information at your New Hire Orientation about obtaining a staff parking decal.
  • Keys

    • Check with your manager/departmental administrative assistant to make sure the keys needed are ordered.  Then, expect a phone call or email stating your keys are ready to be picked up in Human Resource Services, CLA Building 98 (Ground Floor), Room B1-20.  Bring a photo ID to pick-up your keys.
  • View Benefits Eligibility and Begin Gathering Dependent Verification Documents for Your Benefits Enrollment (if needed)

    • If you are eligible for health benefits (view Health Benefits Eligibility) and you will be enrolling dependents such as your spouse, domestic partner, and/or a child in University benefit plans, you will soon need to provide documentation to verify each dependent's relationship to you.  Examples of documents you'll need:  a copy of your marriage certificate to add your spouse or copy of your declaration of domestic partnership to add your domestic partner; birth certificate or adoption papers for each dependent child, and social security numbers of all eligible dependents you'll be enrolling.

  • Complete Your Initial Employee Sign Up

    The sign up must be done in person at the Customer Service Center (CSC) (located in CLA Building 98, Room B1-20) no later than your first day of employment with the University. To assist you in expediting the process, the sign up forms/information packet is available on-line so that you can complete, print, and bring them with you to the CSC. If you have questions or need assistance with these forms, please contact the Customer Service Center at 909-869-3733.

What to Bring - Required Documentation

US Citizens

Permanent Residents

    • I-551 Resident Alien Card
    • Social Security Card

International Hires

    • Passport
    • H-1B = I-94, I-797
    • A Social Security Card
  • Bronco Access Card (Photo ID)

It is important that you obtain a Bronco Access Card because it identifies you as a member of the campus community and is the official photo identification for all Cal Poly Pomona employees, students, and affiliates.  There is wait period of 3 business days from completion of your initial employee sign up before you will appear in our employee database.  Once you are in our employee database, our Photo ID Unit will be able to take your picture and generate your Bronco Access Card.  After the wait period, please stop by the Admissions Office, located in the CLA Building 98, 2nd floor (Room R2-2).  The Photo ID Unit is within the Admissions & Outreach Office and they will take your picture and generate your card within minutes.

What to Bring - Required Documentation to bring with you to obtain your Photo ID:

        • A government issued photo identification (e.g. driver's license, state identification card, military ID, or passport, etc.).
        • Your nine-digit Bronco Number.
  • Review Your Commute Choices

        • If you need to purchase a faculty/staff parking permit, you can do so in the Cashiers Office, CLA Building 98, ground floor (outside entrance by the Aratani Japanese Garden).  Please bring a copy of your appointment letter/contract and a photo ID.  At Cashiers, please stand at Window 4, 5, 8, or 14 for assistance.
  • Keys

Check with your department chair/coordinator to make sure the keys needed are ordered.  Then, expect a phone call or email stating your keys are ready to be picked up in Human Resource Services (same location as your initial employee sign up), CLA Building 98 (Ground Floor), Room B1-20.  Bring a photo ID to pick-up your keys.

  • Blackboard

Blackboard access is granted automatically within 24 hours after you “claim your account.” For questions about Blackboard please go to the eLearning Tools & Technologies page.

  • Transferring Research Grants, Materials, and Specimens

If you are transferring a research grant/project, it is important to start the process early on (6 months or more in advance of your start date, if possible).  If you have question, please contact the Research Compliance Office for assistanceView Regulatory Compliance at Cal Poly Pomona (PDF) for additional information.

  • Faculty Computers

Tenure-track faculty are provided a university laptop and desk monitor setup. Contact IT Services for more information.
