Group Tours

Cal Poly Pomona Official Group Tours

Each year over 20,000 K-14 students come join our college tour guides to walk through the Cal Poly Pomona campus. Future college students ranging from kindergarten to community college come with their schools from across the nation. We've seen them all ... traditional school field trips, AVID groups, GATE programs, Puente programs, No Excuse University, Trio, Upward Bound, STEM/STEAM Academies, independent school clubs, etc.

Why are Cal Poly Pomona campus tours so popular?

Simply put, the campus is beautiful, our students are wonderful, and the possibilities are endless!

Arriving

Each group is given a confirmed Tour Time, which will be the start of your visit. It is highly recommended that groups arrive a minimum of 20-30 minutes prior to their Tour Time. Arriving early will help give your group enough time to walk from the Bus Drop-Off location to the Tour Check-In location, and arriving early will also allow students additional time to use the restroom and buy a small snack or water bottle if needed.

Welcome Presentation

At the start of your visit a Cal Poly Pomona professional staff representative from the Office of Outreach, Recruitment & Educational Partnerships will greet your group and lead a 15-minute group presentation to discuss: admissions requirements, deadlines, tuition, majors and the importance of good grades in preparation for college eligibility. Each student is given a brochure to take home that further addresses these important admissions requirements and provides the students with a future source of information which can be shared with their parents

Walking Tour

The walking tour is led by a knowledgeable Outreach Ambassador who is a current Cal Poly Pomona college students. Our team of Outreach Ambassadors are just as diverse as the school itself with students in varying majors, interests and social dynamics. All Outreach Ambassadors have passed a background check, maintain high GPAs within their college academics, are involved in clubs and organizations throughout the university, participate in an extensive tour training program, and are official representatives of Cal Poly Pomona. The campus tour is a 60-minute walk through the main area on campus. Unfortunately, with over 1,700 acres here at Cal Poly Pomona, our tour route cannot accommodate visiting the entire campus because you'd need more than a day to see it all! Our group tour route is designed to help K-14 students focus on the centralized features on the campus. Discover:
    • The Power of Polytechnic
    • An Affordable, Quality Education at a Great Location
    • Get Connected to Campus Life
    • Diversity
    • Learn By Doing Education that Prepares You for Your Career
    • Heritage
    • Student Centered Philosophy

Conclusion

Your tour concludes near the south end of campus. From here your groups can explore Cal Poly Pomona on your own, or return to your bus. Often, student groups will enjoy grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many dining locations pointed out along the tour route. Or, perhaps, students may be interested in visiting the Bronco Bookstore to get their very own CPP gear. Another great option is to go back and visit the Games Room for a round of air hockey, arcade games, or challenging their teacher to a Dance-Off Competition of Dance Dance Revolution.

Regardless of how you choose to spend your day after the tour has concluded we hope your students enjoyed the many wonders of Cal Poly Pomona, and we encourage your students to reach toward higher education whether it be here at Cal Poly Pomona, or elsewhere.
