The Kaon-Nucleus Story: a small chapter in Medium Energy Nuclear Physics

Peter Siegel

Physics Department, Cal Poly Pomona

Positive Kaons (K+) are subatomic particles that interact weakly with neutrons and protons. Scattering K+ on nuclei was supposed to be an experiment whose data would be easy to interpret. However, the experiments gave unexpected results. Data and theory will be presented to show how the scattering of K+ on nuclei have helped physicists understand the nuclear environment.

Refreshments at 11:00 AM. Seminar begins at 11:10 AM.
Building 8, Room 241
