What's Next? One Student's Guide to Life After Cal Poly

Greg Stough

Department of Physics, University of Oregon and CPP alum

With a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Cal Poly Pomona, you now find yourself facing the question everyone's been asking since you started: what are you going to do with a degree in physics? With a multitude of options: Master's or Ph.D., which school, which field of study, the most important choice in your life is not which college to attend, but what to do with the rest of your life. In this smorgasbord, one path matched my goals so closely that I just had to apply! Listen to one student's journey as he leaves behind his friends and family in sunny California for a Master's program in optics promising an internship and a lucrative career in the private sector. Can he have it all- a job in this economy, a girlfriend, and an advanced degree from an R1 institution? Or will he be forced to move back in with his mom, calculating the moment of inertia of French fries as a cooker in McDonald's?

Refreshments at 3:50 PM. Seminar begins at 4:00 PM.
Building 4, Room 2-314
