eIRB Navigation Tips

Transitioning from the MS Word Protocol to the eIRB System:  The Cal Poly Pomona IRB recognizes that many protocols have been written in the "old" format.  Also, there may still be an unidentified glitch in the eIRB process as we go "live" and move out of the testing phases.  Thus, protocols that were submitted and approved prior to August 2014 through the former hard-copy submission method can be processed through the "old" method.   If you wish to make amendments or renew an approved protocol, please email us at irb@cpp.edu.  Be sure to provide the protocol number in the the email subject and body as "Protocol ##-#### renewal" or "Protocol ##-#### amendment."

Other tips:

1) Make sure to request to be authenticated as a user with the eIRB providing the information under the "Getting Started with a Protocol" Tab.  The Bronco username and password are used to access the system and to electronically sign your protocol.

2) Many of the questions that you might have can be answered by visiting the IRB's FAQ's tab.  You will likely find this tab helpful as you write your protocol.

3) Like most other software, the eIRB requires guidance to navigate through it.  So, be sure to review the How to create an eIRB protocol (PPTX) training guide BEFORE you access the eIRB.

4) While working on the eIRB, please check that the pop-up blocker mechanism on your browser is unlocked (see the slide in the How to create an eIRB protocol training guide).  The eIRB is heavily reliant on pop-up windows.
