Materials for Submission

Letters of Recommendation

Three letters of recommendation are required. Letters should be provided by individuals able to evaluate the applicant's academic record, and able to evaluate the potential for success in a research-based graduate program.
  • Letters may be submitted electronically in pdf format as an attachment to email sent by the recommender to the Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Bob Talmadge, at rjtalmadge@cpp.edu
  • Letters may be submitted by the recommender using standard United States mail:

Statement of Intent

Applicants must supply a statement of intent, which should describe professional experience, academic/scientific research experience, research interests for the MS degree, and professional goals. The statement must not exceed one page in length (12 point font; 1 inch margins all around; double-spaced).

GRE General Test Scores

Applicants must submit scores from the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) General Test. No minimum score is required, and no minimum score guarantees admission. Scores are considered as part of the evaluation process. Only GRE General Test scores are acceptable. Other tests such as MCAT, DAT, PCAT are NOT acceptable. You must have scores on the GRE General Test sent to the University following normal ETS procedures. Cal Poly Pomona Institution Code: 4082. Department Code (Biology): 0203. Your application will not be processed until GRE scores are received. If scores are not received by the deadline for submission of Supplementary Materials (for the quarter to which you have applied), your application will be denied.

Transcripts

Applicants must complete all forms, pay all fees, and submit transcripts as determined by the California State University and the Admissions Office of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Forms, fees, and transcripts must be submitted directly to the Admissions Office - do NOT submit such items to the Department of Biological Sciences or the Department Graduate Coordinator.
