NGSS - New K-12 Science Standards: Implications for K12 and Higher Education
Friday, April 27th 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
CEMaST and the Chemistry/Biochemistry Department will be hosting a Science & Math Education Discussion with Dr. Jodye Selco on April 27th from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in Bldg. 4, floor 1, room 314. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), adopted by California in 2012, are changing the way science is taught in the K-12 system. The new standards require students to learn science by doing it, not by reading about it. Once NGSS is implemented, students graduate from the K-12 system better able to tackle significant problems in STEM. What those changes look like and how we can adapt to the changing landscape will be discussed.
