The Department Learning Outcomes:

  • LO1: Students will learn the fundamental principles underlying the major areas of mathematics and statistics.
  • LO2: Students will develop and utilize effective written, oral, and computer communication skills in a mathematical and statistical setting.
  • LO3: Students will develop a more in depth understanding of an area in mathematics or statistics through selection of coursework to satisfy their chosen options.
  • LO4: Students will develop a broad appreciation for mathematics and statistics both as a discipline and as a tool for solving real world problems. 
  • LO5: Students will be able to read and write mathematical proofs.
  • LO6: Successful students, upon graduation, will be ready for graduate studies or careers in teaching, industry, or public agencies.
