Plasmonic materials for optical circuitry and biophotonic applications

Nov 2, 2017 11:00 AM to Nov 2, 2017 12:00 PM at Building 8 room 241

Plasmonics is a new area which covers a wide range of research and application topics including quantum computing using single molecule switching, enhancement of solar cells efficiency, different biomedical applications, optical metamaterials with “metal – dielectrics” structures, and terahertz plasmonics.  Each application requires different optical materials. I will discuss different types of plasmonic materials: metals, dielectrics, polymers, semiconductors, and which one will serve best for different applications.
