I am nominating:Kim McAllister

Position: Assistant to the Executive Director
Why are you nominating this person? Why do you think he/she deserves the award?
The Student Support & Equity Program’s (SSEP) Lead Team would like to nominate Kim McAllister for a Star Award for her exceptional work and dedication to the SSEP department. Kim has a very “can do” attitude that is exemplified through her working style and quality of work. Kim has been a tremendous support to the administrative leadership over the last few years, especially through the transition of staffing within the department (as well as several Leadership changes over the past few years). Kim has always stepped in and stepped up to lend a hand wherever she’s needed, especially for coverage in the front office or in scheduling academic advising appointments for the EOP advisors, as well as navigating a very complex budget that has several state funds that need to be tracked separately as well as 12 different foundation accounts that have very specific rules and regulations. Kim’s “team player” nature has been and continues to be a true asset to the department.
Kim is very organized, which helps in keeping things in order for the department. She also works hard to stay abreast with pertinent and current information to ensure that she does her job, and does it well.
In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?
Kim has such a positive and welcoming energy that radiates bronco pride! In Kim’s role, she is often the one who is the first point of contact for supporters/partners to SSEP that work both on and off campus. She does an exceptional job at assisting with major logistical aspects of many special projects within the department, be it in Renaissance Scholars, EOP Summer Bridge, etc. Through this type of support and many other behind the scene assistance, Kim not only enhances our department and it constituents that are served by SSEP, she has a positive impact on the Cal Poly Pomona campus community.
