Nomination #1

Why are you nominating this person?  Why do you think he/she deserves the award?

Since I have only been here for a few months, I have been able to see how Vicki has such a huge wonderful influence on ASI Student Body and what a great and passionate person she is.  I can see that she is able to share her experiences and help them learn and grow to be better people through their own experiences. She is more than willing to assist and provide options in order to help the students move forward when they need help.  She deserves this award due to the fact that she is so passionate about not only ASI, but our campus as well.  She goes above and beyond.

In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?

Vicki keeps student leaders organized and on top of their duties and engagements in order to help them do their jobs better for the student body.  She is very thorough in her duties where she ensures the student bodies are in compliance with corporate regulations and guidelines (i.e. posting agendas, having minutes completed timely, etc.)  She guides them to ensure they accomplish their goals and that they learn from their roles in student government. But her contribution does not stop there she is a very bright and positive person that when she listens and speaks it has meaning and it makes people perform their jobs better.  She provides a positive influence on everything which gets paid forward and influences everyone involved.

Vicki wholeheartedly embraces our motto “Student Serving Students”.  Although she works primarily with student government, her impact on all students is so phenomenal that students that have not worked with her are impacted by her, thus, she “IS” the epitome of “Student Serving Students”.

Vicki helps everyone, not just student government, grow and develop to become effective and efficient leaders.  She is really passionate about her job and dedicated to what she does. She sees the bigger picture and does not let anything discourage her.  Her passion in seeing things differently and from a different point of view can turn any negative into a positive which ultimately helps us learn from our experiences.

Nomination #2

Why are you nominating this person?  Why do you think he/she deserves the award?

Words cannot describe what an impact Vicki has on the people she meets. I've often referred to her as the angel in ASI because she always looks out for everyone, especially the student leaders. She is

so helpful and I can't imagine what ASI would be like and what kind of leader I would be without her

help.

In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?

Student leaders make a commitment to the student body to advocate and represent them to the best of our abilities. We make the promise to be "students serving students." ASI as a corporation makes the promise to provide quality service, represent and engage students, establish learning and leadership opportunities for students and staff, and provide programs and services for everyone on and off campus. Vicki has been such an integral part of the development of student leaders as well as staff. She is always willing to help. Whether it is a student at large who is looking for something or a newly hired staff member, Vicki never hesitates to go above and beyond to help and this is why  I think shecontributes to our campus community. Her selfless attitude is what sets her apart and because of this, I think she deserves recognition.

Vicki is dedicated to our mission of "students serving students." In all that we do, she always keeps the best interest of the students at heart and I think this is so admirable. Whenever things come up that will greatly impact our student body, Vicki thinks of things that the average person wouldn't think to ask. This is extremely helpful because it helps us to really think creatively and find solutions that will appease the majority.

Vicki always provides quality service. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her. She is extremely thorough and she provides everyone with more information than they'd ever imagine that they would need. This has been extremely helpful for student leaders because we are often times very new to corporate activity and she serves as a guide for us. She has always been more than willing to answer my questions and even if she doesn't know the answer right off the back, she will always get back to me.

Nomination #3

Why are you nominating this person?  Why do you think he/she deserves the award?

I am nominating Vicki Jackson because she is truly a STAR on our campus that needs to be recognized for all the work that she does. I do not believe that I have ever met anybody on our campus that is as diligent, thorough or passionate about the success and growth of students as Vicki Jackson is on a daily basis. She always comes to work thinking about how to make others feel empowered and how to brighten up their day with assistance on a major project, or with something as simple as a smile. Vicki strives to do her best at every single thing at work with no anticipation of recognition, but simply for efficiency and effectiveness.

She is a role model to all of her colleagues, but most importantly the ASI Student Leaders.  I believe that Vicki Jackson deserves this award because of how extremely hard working she is, but most importantly she deserves this award because of her undying passion and commitment to ASI and the students of Cal Poly Pomona. This school year in particular because it is her fifth year of service here at ASI, and I’m sure it is not shaping as she may have thought it would. On a personal level, this has been an unexpectedly rough year for Vicki and her family, but if you did not know what was going on, you would never be able to tell. Her professionalism, composure and strength are extremely admirable and humbling.

In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?

Vicki contributes in tremendous ways to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community with her warm spirit. She always wants people to feel included and comfortable in whatever situation the situation may be, and will stop at nothing to help a fellow Bronco. Even when her work load is stacked tremendously high, Vicki will still take the time to hear you out, let you voice your concerns, vent about your issues, and then offer you the best advice imaginable! Her advice usually always leads back to you having to decide what the best solution is, but she will always thoroughly paint and map out your options for you to see things that you may have overlooked before talking to her. Whether you are new to Cal Poly, been here for years, or somewhere in-between, Vicki will still treat you like family and strive to be a great resource for you through any endeavor you may face.

Vicki exemplifies a student-centered philosophy every single day that she comes to work.  She’s constantly thinking about how to help student leaders accomplish our goals and see the bigger picture for our futures. Whenever students come to her for advice or ask for assistance, she always stops whatever she is doing to lend a helping hand no matter what it is. Vicki cares about our performance in business related matters, but also about our well-being on a personal level. Vicki’s candy-filled birthday kebabs, suggested poems like, “Man in the Glass,” and daily notes of encouragement, are all examples of some of the things Vicki does to motivate student leaders and make them feel special.

For me personally as ASI President, Vicki goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I am as sharp as I can be. She works with me hand-in-hand to map out my schedule; types up my ASI Cabinet minutes and agendas, sets up meetings, follow-up phone calls etc., but never loses sight of the fact that I am still a student and growing young man that does not have it all figured out and still needs guidance. She is constantly pushing me to think outside the box and demanding that I do what I believe is best for the student body instead of allowing external sources to influence me. Her service to students is truly invaluable.

Please share how your nominee exemplifies value #2: Quality

As I previously stated, Vicki’s thoroughness in all matters concerning ASI and our campus is like no other. She never lets her title limit her in the type of work that she produces, or the type of work she decides to undertake. She is always making sure that we remain in compliance with all of our documentation and obligations. Vicki is extremely diligent in all her record upkeeps and assessments of various situations.  The only thing more valuable than Vicki’s quality of work is her quality personality. Vicki will be the first to empathize and feel for somebody in a situation where most would either not notice, or not care enough to understand what someone else is going through. She is always striving to make someone else’s day better regardless of how hers is going. Her demeanor and character is a model that we can all learn something from, and strive to emulate throughout our daily lives.
