SWE's main mission is centered around outreach. It is the biggest part of our club! We hold events at least 3 times a quarter if not more!

What is Outreach?

Outreach is about reaching out to younger girls (and boys) to encourage them to consider Engineering as their future career. We strive to set an example for young women especially, that engineering, although dominated by men, is a very fulfilling and achievable career. We often show this through different engineering projects that play on the girl's strengths and teach them about teamwork as well as the concepts behind engineering.

    • Ontario-Montclair District Science Fair

The Ontario-Montclair School District is currently recruiting volunteers for its upcoming District Science Fair on Saturday, January 30th, 2016. They have estimated to have over 400 student projects at the fair and they need all the help they can get!

They would like to have about 50 volunteers in total. Volunteers would serve as judges who will observe projects created by students from grades K-8. Those who serve as judges for 6th-8th graders would also conduct student interviews with them. Click here for the event flyer.

    • Rosary Academy Engineering Class

SWE is looking for volunteers to help with a school visit to the new Rosary Academy Engineering Class. It will take place on February 12th (time TBD). We are looking for a variety of engineering majors willing to share a little bit of information about themselves to aspiring female engineers. We will also be conducting a small workshop where the students will be able to experience our "learn by doing" motto.
