Insect Fair to Scare, Fascinate and Delight

Get up close and personal with your favorite – and not so favorite – creepy crawlies at the Cal Poly Pomona Insect Fair on Oct. 6 and 7.
The insect fair will feature hundreds of rare and fascinating live insects, including beetles, spiders, honeybees, and Madagascar hissing cockroaches in interactive, educational displays. It’s an opportunity to learn more about how insects impact our lives and about possible careers as an insect expert.

For collectors, the fair will have pinned and framed insects. Vendors also will sell insect-themed jewelry, insect and nature-related educational toys, California honey, and beeswax products.
The fair will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children 2 to 12. Kids under $2 are free.
Proceeds will benefit the plant science department’s Agriculture Biology Club and help support educational trips to learn about insects and tropical agricultural systems. Last year’s fair helped fund students’ summer trip to Costa Rica.
The insect fair is part of the Cal Poly Pomona Pumpkin Festival. A separate admission is required to enter the festival. Festival tickets are on sale at https://pumpkinfestival.cpp.edu.
