The festival will have animal exhibits, antique tractors and farm equipment, live entertainment, craft vendors and tasty festival food. The event also features demonstrations throughout the day of cow milking, gardening, and traditional soap making.
“Los Angeles County was once the largest farm county in the United States, but it’s now the largest urban county, and most people around here haven’t been to a farm,” says Craig Walters, the festival director. “We want people to experience a little of what farming is all about and learn more about where their food comes from. Spring is a great time to come back to the farm.”
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the AGRIscapes Education and Outreach Center, 4102 S. University Drive.
Admission is free, but some activities may carry a charge.
Limited free parking is available in the Pumpkin Festival field. Guests can access the free parking off South Campus Drive from Temple Ave. Overflow parking is available in Lot U, Lot B and Parking Structure 2 across Temple Avenue. However, motorists must purchase a $4 permit from the kiosks in those lots.
