FST Student to Participate in CSU Research Contest

Sarah Caballero

A food science and technology student will participate next month in a California State University research competition.

Sarah Caballero will give a presentation on “Impact of Protein Type and Maillard Conjugation on Nanoemulsion Formation and Stability at Isoelectric Point” at the 33rd CSU Student Research Competition at Cal State Fullerton, April 26-27.

A fifth-year student from Yorba Linda, Caballero was chosen for the system-wide competition after giving one of the top oral presentations at Cal Poly Pomona’s 7th Annual Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities Conference on March 1.

More than 400 students presented their research at the Cal Poly Pomona event in fields ranging from graphic design, the humanities and behavioral and social sciences to biological and agricultural sciences, engineering, and physics.

The Cal Poly Pomona teams with the top 10 oral presentations of their research projects were selected to participate in the CSU competition.

Assistant Professor Gabriel Davidov-Pardo was the advisor for Caballero’s honor college capstone project.
