Discover STEM-Related Careers in Ag Tour

Students learn about artichoke farming in the Western Growers' Careers in Ag Tour

Did you know that there are thousands of high-paying rewarding jobs in agriculture?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that there will be an average of 57,900 job openings in food, agriculture, renewable resources, and environmental areas every year through 2020. However, the United States produces only 35,400 college graduates every year to fill those job openings.

You can find out more about agricultural careers by applying to Western Growers’ Careers in Ag Program, a three-day career exploration tour of agriculture and technology operations in the Monterey County area June 20-22 for Cal Poly Pomona students.

The tour will highlight STEM-related research and production practices in:

  • Soil science
  • Engineering robotics
  • Food Safety
  • Innovation technology
  • Crop science
  • Pest and disease management
  • Ecology.

To participate, fill out the application form. The deadline to apply has been extended to Monday, April 24. Contact Lisa Kessler at (909) 869-2203.

This is the third such tour Western Growers has offered to Cal Poly Pomona students. The first group toured the Monterey County area last June, while another group visited the Imperial and Coachella valleys and Yuma, Ariz.
