Income Protection Benefits
Workers' compensation benefits are designed to provide you with the medical treatment needed to help you recover from your injury or illness caused by work; payment of temporary disability benefits if you lose wages because your injury prevents you from doing your usual job while recovering; payment of permanent disability if you don’t recover completely; and for certain types of injury, supplemental job displacement vouchers to pay for re-training should you be unable to return to work for the same employer. The Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance is a CSU employer-paid benefit to eligible employees within specified employee groups. Employees not eligible for the employer paid benefit have an opportunity to purchase the plan as a voluntary insurance. LTD is an income protection program and is available to supplement IDL, Social Security disability, retirement system payments, or any other group disability plan payments. If disability criteria are met, the employee will receive 66 2/3 percent of pay, up to a specific maximum per month (varies by group), until age 65 or Social Security normal retirement age.
