Basic Needs Ally Program

Why Should You Do This Training?

Basic needs issues such as food and housing insecurity continue to challenge too many of our students. Meeting students’ basic needs is vital to their success, mental health, and retention at Cal Poly Pomona. Students who are struggling to find adequate food and housing are more likely to report academic troubles and lower GPA's.

You can help them. You’re invited to the Basic Needs Ally Training Program presented by the Basic Needs Task Force.

About the Program

In Basic Needs Ally Training, you will get data about the impact of basic needs issues on our students and learn about evidence-based methods for supporting them as they work towards solutions. You'll also have the opportunity to work in small groups to role-play and work through real-life scenarios. In short, you’ll understand the basic needs issues facing our students and you'll gain skills to help them.
