Book Summary: A collection of ten essays published in 1955 by renowned writer and commentator on race in America, James Baldwin. The essays cover areas such as book critiques of Uncle Tom's Cabin and Native Son, the exploitation of an a Black a capella quintet by the Wallace presidential campaign, antisemitism, going abroad to Paris, and the time he spent in a small mountain town in Switzerland. These essays are a multifaceted view into the mind of James Baldwin, including a raw and emotional account of  his father's death against the backdrop of the 1943 Harlem Riots in his title essay "Notes of a Native Son".
