Learn Canvas

To support the Cal Poly Pomona community in our transition to Canvas, the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) is offering an array of training opportunities to fit every schedule and level of comfort with technologies.

Canvas will be the LMS for ALL classes beginning in Fall 2021. Blackboard will not be available to use with students, but can still be accessed by faculty, beginning in Fall 2021.

“Introduction to Teaching with Canvas” Asynchronous Course

Choose this 2-week asynchronous experience if you want the combination of working with others around you, but going at your own pace.

This is an introduction for faculty who are new to using Canvas. By creating materials for your own course, you will learn how to do four basic things that will be necessary for Fall 2021 no matter what format you're teaching in:

  • Maintain a current syllabus
  • Maintain an up-to-date gradebook
  • Communicate with students
  • Provide instructional materials that are accessible to students with disabilities

Canvas Champions will facilitate sections of this course at various times over the summer. You are free to register for any section that fits your schedule. Plan to spend about 8 hours total over 2 weeks. There is a stipend available for completing this training (defined as submitting 85% of the assignments).

Please register via the personalized survey link that you received from Victoria Bhavsar on May 18.

How to make these stipend eligible:
