Timeline

What is the Timeline?

  • Canvas course shells will be available for faculty to begin course building in January 2021
  • Canvas will not be available to teach spring 2021 courses
  • Canvas will be available for use in classes with the Summer 2021 term
  • Canvas will be the default LMS used in all classes beginning Fall 2021 term
  • Blackboard will remain available for content retrieval through Spring 2022

Here are major milestones of the transition from Blackboard to Canvas.

February

Activity:
Faculty and staff can request a Canvas practice course (a.k.a. a sandbox).

What this means to me:
Faculty and staff can get used to Canvas in a no-risk, low-pressure way.

What I need to do:
Request a practice course (sandbox) if desired

How do I do it?
Email canvas@cpp.edu to request a practice course (sandbox)

March

Activity Update:
As of March 31, Canvas configuration is complete. CAFE and IT prepare for outside company K16 Solutions to convert Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 courses for use in Canvas.

What this means to me:
Faculty do NOT have to convert their own Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 courses. If you want to teach in Canvas during Sumer 2021, it is recommended that you request your course to be converted on your behalf. If you want us (via K16 Solutions) to convert your Summer 2021 course for you, please be sure to respond when you are contacted. We may ask you for input about your courses, especially Summer courses.

What I need to do:
Respond to requests for information, particularly regarding your Summer courses

How do I do it?
Respond to emails from CAFE, IT, and other sources
